This week’s Every Day Hero

Congratulations to Lucy Coote from Rosedale Funeral Home – nomination received from Anne Beckett-Allen

“Lucy is our Community Ambassador and a large part of her role is running bereavement support groups. Because the groups all had to be cancelled, Lucy worked hard to convert these to zoom, and developed a training course to introduce new and non-tech people to zoom to make sure they could still access support. Lucy also swiftly installed Grief Chat on our website and also made Saif Care available for clients that didn’t have internet access.

More recently, she has written on line training courses around bereavement in the workplace and support for those bereaved through suicide. She has organised care packages for staff members at Rosedale, covered funeral homes when staff have had to shield or self isolate and has been a wonderful support for those staff who have had to work from home, taking on tasks that are outside of both her usual remit and her comfort zone.

One of her biggest achievements was uniting every single one of our staff on zoom, including more than 20 part time bearers who had never used zoom before, so that we could hold our annual staff away day and award ceremony on line. Lucy has now run bereavement support groups both in person and on line, and has ensured that every single bereaved person that has needed support has received it. She is definitely a hero every day.”
